Menaquinone, better known as vitamin K2, belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins and is a derivative of quinones. It exists in different side chain forms (MK-4 to MK-13), which differ in stability and availability. Vitamin K2 is often produced industrially by fermentation using microorganisms or biotechnological processes and then standardized. In supplements, it is used as a defined micronutrient that supplements classic vitamins with a fat-soluble component.
