Lactic acid

Lactic acid belongs to the group of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) and is an organic carboxylic acid that is produced naturally during fermentative processes. Industrially, it is mainly produced by fermentation of glucose or other plant sugars. It is characterized by its good water solubility and its role as an acidity regulator. Lactic acid is used in cosmetic formulations to stabilize pH values and refine the texture.
