Coconut oil is obtained by pressing the dried flesh of the coconut, known as copra. It contains mainly saturated fatty acids, in particular lauric acid, which is characteristic of the solid, spreadable fat profile. In addition to triglycerides, it also contains small amounts of natural accompanying substances such as polyphenols and tocopherols. In cosmetic formulations, coconut oil is used as a nourishing lipid donor that provides a soft texture and makes the skin supple.
