Dimethicone

Dimethicone is a linear polydimethylsiloxane and belongs to the group of silicones. It is produced synthetically and is characterized by a smooth, oily texture and high spreading properties. In cosmetic formulations, dimethicone acts as an emollient and film former: it forms a thin layer on the skin or hair, reduces moisture loss and makes the skin feel supple.
